Uxbridge run out of ideas at Wasps

HERTS/MIDDLESEX DIVISION TWO Wasps Amateurs 22 Uxbridge 0

Creativity deserted Uxbridge as they slithered to the bottom of the table after being shut out away to Wasps Amateurs.

Wasps took the win 22-0 despite Uxbridge enjoying plenty of set piece possession, with the scrum looking particularly impressive, as the backs never looked like scoring out wide.

The defeat, coupled with a 10-10 draw with Old Grammarians for previous bottom side Belsize Park, left Uxbridge as the only side yet to bank a point from their five games and they will be keen to end that record quickly to avoid the psychological disadvantage of being bottom at Christmas.

A solid Uxbridge scrum earned them considerable ball to play with but the absence of creativity and finishing was in stark contrast to the home side, who were far sharper as their fly half and inside centre dictated the game and the visitors were no match.

* Tom Hall-Jones scored all the points as the seconds beat Old Isle-worthians II 14-10 to claim their first Middlesex Merit Table Division Five win of the season.

Hall-Jones scored the only try and added three penalties to take Uxbridge off the bottom of the table ahead of Saturday's trip to fellow strugglers Quintin II.

* Uxbridge welcome more players - see www.uxbridgerfc.co.uk  for more information on the club.
