TONY O'Driscoll's first game as permanent Hayes & Yeading manager ended in defeat as United were beaten 3-2 by Staines Town in the Middlesex Senior Cup semi-final.
Two goals in three minutes from Sam Corcoran and Kudus Oyenuga (pictured) saw United fight back from 2-0 to level the tie before a 60th minute Staines winner saw them progress to the final.
In the other semi-final, Northwood suffered penalty shootout heartbreak against Ashford Town.
The Woods were a spot kick away from reaching the final, but consecutive saves from the Town 'keeper saw them progress to the final.
Meanwhile in the Evo-Stik Division One Central, Uxbridge twice came from behind to beat Guildford City 3-2.
After early Reds possession, Guildford took the lead only for captain Wayne Carter to equalise.
Guildford recaptured their lead before the break but Uxbridge again hit back and levelled the scores through Mark Smith.
Matt Woods snatched the points with 15 minutes to go.
Elsewhere, Woods’ old club AFC Hayes went down to a 2-1 defeat against Slough Town.
Lawrie Shennan had given Hayes the lead, but Slough fought back to take victory.
In the Spartan South Midlands Premier, Hillingdon Borough ran out 3-1 winners away to Stotfold.
Borough raced into a 2-0 half-time lead before returning debutant Dave Lawerence scored the third goal.
Meanwhile Harefield United crashed out of the Challenge Trophy, losing 2-1 after extra time against FC Codicote.
