ON-LOAN Wycombe defender Leika Saku is in contention to make his first start for Uxbridge at North Leigh on Saturday after manager Tony Choules decided to recall him to his squad.
Seventeen-year-old Saku and fellow Wycombe youngster Dean Wallace have both returned to Uxbridge after a stint back at the Coca Cola League One club and the latter was thrust in from the start in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Cirencester Town.
Choules wants his decision to bring back the young pair to be a warning to his faltering squad after they failed to mount an expected play-off challenge this season.
ìI needed our players to know that their places are not assured so I have brought them back in,î he said. ìIf we do not beat Northwood in the semi-final of the Middlesex Senior Cup then I will make changes to our squad there and then.
ìI will be looking at certain players and saying that they have had this season, but may not be here next season.
ìWe can still get into the play-offs mathematically, but the sides above us would have to go on a bad run and we would need to go on a 14-match unbeaten run.
ìI do not think that will happen, but I spoke to the players on Saturday and I explained that I want us to finish as high as we possibly can and look towards next season.î
