O'Meara sees off King

WEST Drayton boxer Steve O'Meara took his record in his fledgling professional career to two wins from two bouts with a second round knockout.

Following yet another cancelled fight the 24-year-old took on American Dotre King in Philadelphia's famed Blue Horizon venue in a light middleweight clash.

O'Meara, who had former World Champion Tim Witherspoon in his corner, caught King with a left hook at the end of the opening round.

And King, who was making his pro debut following a decent amateur career, had no answer to O'Meara who landed half a dozen shots in succession and finished him off with a right upper cut and a left hook, before the referee stepped in.

"I couldn't have asked for much more," commented a highly satisfied O'Meara, who plans to return to the US for his next fight on July 3 and two more within a month.
