Highcliffe won by four wickets
KURT Simpson dug deep to snatch victory for Highcliffe as they beat Ickenham Tour XI by four wickets on Saturday.
A fantastic 99 not out by Simpson earned Highcliffe a famous victory which was won with only one delivery remaining in the game.
Ickenham elected to bat first and the tone was set from the off by Joe Mannick (45) and Elliot Woods (36) who put on 90 for the first wicket in double quick time.
They were both then removed by Calum Maclennan (3-32) who produced a very tidy bowling display.
Dan Burke (3-21) continued the excellent bowling removing Mike Olsen (3) and Rishi Soni (29).
Ickenham were then bowled out for 218 after some some late hitting from Vrushant Patel (45) gave Ickenham a great chance for victory.
The Highcliffe response was halted by a tight opening bowling partnership by Graeme Manley (1-42) and Steve Room (1-28) .
Arul Iyer weathered the storm on his way to 35 he was well supported by Guy Andrews (32), but ultimately Kurt Simpson took the game away from Ickenham.
With some help from the Ickenham fielding he went to 99 not out, the victory was secured on the penultimate ball of the innings and a four wicket win for Highcliffe.
