HERTFORDSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR
Sawbridgeworth CC 2nds 124 all out
Northwood Town 125-3
Northwood Town won by seven wickets
NORTHWOOD Town finally got off to winning ways with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Sawbridgeworth 2nds.
Richard Soling starred with the ball for Northwood as he took 6-38 off 24 overs as Town took to the field first, with skipper David Bushnell also taking 2-27 as the hosts were dismissed for a lowly looking 124.
Town’s recent form suggested that even this total would not be easy to chase and they suffered an early blow with Rich Robbins dismissed having barely broken a sweat. However, Raj Ahluwalia (28) and Scott Walker knuckled down with a 56-run partnership to get the innings back on track.
Once Ahluwalia was dismissed, warhorse Phil Carter (20), joined Walker and the pair carved out another 56 partnership. Carter went near the end but Walker carried his bat with a sublime 64 for a much needed victory.
Elsewhere, Town’s seconds endured a disappointing Saturday, losing by 36 runs to a determined Parkfield side.
Suvin Metwan recorded excellent figures of 4-11 and Ravi Kotecha knocked a decent 39 with the bat, but Town fell short of the 191 put on the board by their opponents.
But Town’s thirds were in better form, recording an amazing 10-wicket victory as they skittled out Knebworth Park for just 19 runs.
Minesh Vadgama took a sensational 5-1 off five overs as Town eased home with no wickets lost.
