United warm up with Solihull victory

Hayes and Yeading United warmed up for the start of the Blue Square Conference South season with a 1-0 win at Solhull Moors on Saturday.

The pre-season clash at the Blue Square North side was hastily arranged after United's original opponents Cambridge City cancelled their match.

United's victory came courtesy of a 36th minute own goal from Solihull's Junior English when the midfielder headed past his own 'keeper after a cross from Danny Allen-Page.

The match proved a useful work out for Garry Haylock's side ahead of this Saturday's opening league clash with newly promoted Chelmsford City at Church Road.
