Warwickshire on top at Park Road

Warwickshire dominated the second day of play in the County Championship match with Middlesex at Uxbridge.

They took their overnight score from 271-5 to 393 and then had Middlesex in trouble at 70 for 3 at the close of play.

An eighth wicket stand of 90 in just 114 balls between Neil Carter (67) and Ant Botha (54) frustrated the Middlesex bowlers after some early success on day two and took Warwickshire to an impressive total of 393.

The Warwickshire bowlers then had Middlesex in real trouble at 45 for 3 as Nick Compton, Dawid Malan and skipper Ed Joyce all went cheaply.

However, Owais Shah (25 not out) helped stop the rot and at close of play Middlesex had reached 70 for 3 in reply.

Play commences today (Friday) at 11am and continues tomorrow (Saturday) at Park Road.
