Smith hits 35 on Park Road return

South Africa captain Graeme Smith made 35 on his return from injury in the tour match with Middlesex at Uxbridge.

Smith looked in reasonable form in his first match back since being injured while playing in the Indian Premier League, as he prepares for the first Test at Lord's next Thursday (July 10).

His 35 came off 77 balls and included four fours before he was caught off the bowling of Alan Richardson.

He shared in a century stand for the second wicket with Hasim Amla, who completed his half century, as the tourists moved smoothly to 132-2 by early afternoon.

Play continues at Park Road tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, 11am start.
