STUART Pearce and Vinnie Jones were among scores sending messages of support to underdogs Wealdstone ahead of their semi-final clash with Newport on Saturday.
The caretaker England boss and former AFC Wimbledon star both started their careers with Stones before going on to greater things at domestic and international level.
Pearce sent an email to his old club, while Jones was pictured with some other famous football faces donning a Stones scarf at Watford’s 3-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.
Others to show support included Hornet striker Gavin Massey who also had a spell at The Vale last season, and former Watford and England stars Nigel Callaghan and Luther Blissett.
Stones’ run to the semis has been watched closely by Hornets fans with youngsters Connor Smith and Tommie Hoban currently under the tutoring of Gordon Bartlett, while their team-mate Britt Assombalonga starred in wins over Banbury and 2010 winners Barrow earlier in the competition.
It is believed some Watford fans plan to travel to Newport to swell the away support as Stones make their bid for Wembley.
