NAS BASHIR believes strike duo Stuart Fleetwood and Andre Gray were the difference as Hayes & Yeading were comfortably beaten by Luton Town today.
Fleetwood bagged a brace at Kenilworth Road while Gray’s second-half blockbuster completed the scoring in this afternoon’s 4-2 win for the Hatters.
Boss Bashir pinpointed the pair as being key to his side’s downfall as United continued to edge ever nearer towards the relegation trapdoor.
“The result was disappointing,” said Bashir. “I thought first-half we applied ourselves very well and dealt with them but the two goals killed us. The second goal was a fantastic finish but we’d had two or three chances before that and they scored at vital times.
“Even when we got it back to 3-2 we had a couple of little moments, but again the fourth goal has done us. When it went to 4-2 we lost our way a little bit, which can happen.
“You look at their strikers and they’re proven at this level – they were the difference today. Fleetwood’s goals were very good for this level and probably for the level above too.
“Luton are a good team with good players and I can’t fault the effort of our boys. We’ve got to keep going but we’re running out of games now but the players are aware of that.
"Realistically, to come to Luton and get three points was always going to require a big shift, but I thought we had a right go.”
United will welcome Mansfield to Kingfield on Saturday as they continue to scrap for their Blue Square Premier lives.
