EVO-STIK DIVISION ONE CENTRAL
Woodford United 0 Northwood 5
SPENCER Bellotti claimed a hat-trick as Northwood romped to victory over Evo-Stik Division One Central basement boys Woodford.
Woodford are the league’s whipping boys this season and are yet to register a victory in the current campaign.
Northwood took full advantage against a team severely lacking in confidence as they showed no signs of rust, despite having gone three weeks without a game.
Jerome Federico gave the visitors the lead with a stunning 25-yard drive that whistled into the top corner to open his account for the club. Bellotti added a second on the half-hour to score his first Woods goal since mid-November and keep the momentum building.
A few minutes later and Federico doubled his tally for the afternoon as he banged in a third to give Northwood a commanding lead at half-time. And there was no let up after the interval as the game’s two most influential players combined for a fourth goal.
Federico sent a free-kick hurtling towards the near post and Bellotti nipped in to steer a header beyond the reach of James Riley.
He soon had his third of the afternoon as Stefan Tomasevic sent an inviting cross into the box and Bellotti wriggled free from his marker before firing home on the volley. Federico was unlucky not to have a hat-trick of his own as he was denied late on but the result was emphatic as Woods picked up their first win in six league games.
Northwood reserves’ Suburban League Premier B Division match against leaders Walton Casuals was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Woods were last night (Tuesday) due to host Hampton and Richmond Borough in the Middlesex Senior Cup.
