Boreham Wood 3-0 Hayes & Yeading
THEY say things come in threes and that was certainly the case last night as Hayes & Yeading were defeated by Boreham Wood for the third time this season.
Having already beaten United in the league and FA Cup this term, Wood made it a treble as the visitors ran out of steam in the second-half.
The match was in doubt before kick-off when a torrential downpour forced a last-minute pitch inspection at Meadow Park.
With the referee satisfied, the game was given the green light, but Hayes & Yeading will have wished the rain had continued after this result.
To rub salt into the wound it was Michael Thalassitis who opened the scoring early in the second-half - a player United boss Nas Bashir tried to bring back to Kingfield last week.
Wood skipper Mario Noto added a second from the penalty spot just five minutes later and Graeme Montgomery made it three after the hour mark.
It was a dreadful second-half for Bashir’s side and the misery was compounded by a late red card for Kudus Oyenuga (pictured) that will earn him a three-match ban.
Hayes & Yeading: Hall, Spence, Brathwaite, Cox, Pele, Cadmore, Williams, Hand (Ekim), N’Diaye (Gladwin), Goddard, Wishart (Oyenuga).
Subs (not used): Butcher, Beasant
