MARK Smith’s late winner secured the bragging rights for Uxbridge in their derby clash with AFC Hayes last night.
Lucas Williams' equaliser for Hayes cancelled out Matt Woods’ second-half strike before Smith got the winner for the Reds seven minutes from time.
The early exchanges were scrappy, with both sides struggling to create chances on the sodden playing surface throughout the first-half.
Uxbridge came flying out of the traps after the restart as Woods scored against his old club to put the visitors in front.
But Hayes continued to fight and went on to draw level in the 63rd minute through Williams' deserved equaliser.
Smith scored the winner for Uxbridge in the 83rd minute but the Red Army had to survive a late barrage from Hayes to run out deserved winners.
Elsewhere, a depleted Wealdstone side crashed out of the Ryman League Cup as they lost 1-0 at Ryman Division One South side Dulwich Hamlet.
A fine strike from full-back Ryan James was enough to see off the Stones as Dulwich triumphed despite a late rally from the visitors.
Hillingdon Borough side also suffered defeat against Hampton & Richmond in the Middlesex Senior Cup second round.
Ryan Moss' brace, accompanied by a Gary Holloway strike, secured the tie for the home side as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Boro.
In other news, Northwood’s postponed Middlesex Senior Charity Cup tie at Enfield Town has been re-arranged for Tuesday 29th January.
The Challenge Trophy Third Round encounter between Harefield United and Codicote was also postponed due to adverse playing conditions.
