ROB FITZGERALD made his 100th appearance for Uxbridge last night on a evening to forget for the Reds at Thatcham Town.
The classy young centre-back reached his century for the club in a disappointing 2-1 defeat for Tony Choules’ men at Waterside Park.
Uxbridge had chalked up five wins on the bounce heading into this one but the run was halted here by a lacklustre first-half performance in Berkshire.
Sam Hamilton took the lead inside the first 10 minutes as he smashed home the opener to put the Kingfishers in front.
Karl Oliyide struck a second just before the break that would eventually prove pivotal and the timing of the goal really knocked the stuffing out of the visitors.
Wayner Carter, brought on by Choules at half-time, pulled one back after the interval but it was not enough as the Kingfishers held on to send the Reds home with nothing.
Elsewhere, Oliver Hawkins and Brad Hewitt struck for Northwood as they knocked Evo-Stik League Premier Division leaders Hemel Hempstead out of the Red Insure League Cup.
Ian Crane’s AFC Hayes exited the competition at the third round stage after throwing away an early lead to go down 3-1 at Slough Town.
Player-boss Sam Hurrell (pictured) got on the scoresheet for Hillingdon Borough but had to settle for a 1-1 draw in a derby clash with Phil Granville’s Harefield United.
And Alex Dyer’s second-half strike rescued a point for Wealdstone at Hastings United.
