Uxbridge 2-1 North Greenford United
UXBRIDGE made a bright start to 2013 after coming from behind to see off North Greenford United in a scrappy New Year’s Day derby clash.
Kwabena Agyei gave the visitors the lead at Honeycroft but Tony Choules’ side turned the tables with goals from Matty Woods and Nicke Kabamba.
United almost opened the scoring inside the first few minutes when Aaron Morgan went clean through but Reds keeper Zaki Oualah was alert to the danger.
Kabamba was a real livewire in the Uxbridge attack and forced several decent saves from North Greenford stopper Lee Pearce in a first-half that remained goalless.
The 130-strong crowd wanted somebody to turn the heat up in the second period and Agyei’s lob seven minutes after the restart saw the match burst into life.
Choules’ boys responded quickly as a Woods latched onto a defence-splitting pass from Kevin Warner and rounded the onrushing Pearce before finishing superbly.
And the Reds completed the job on 70 minutes as substitute Chris Owens combined with Warner to set up Kabamba and the striker rifled home the winner.
Uxbridge travel to Holloways Park on Saturday before a midweek trip to Thatcham on Tuesday.
