JEROME Anderson has not been released by Hayes and Yeading, despite an announcement to that effect on the club’s official website.
A statement posted online last week explained that the forward had parted company with the Kingfield club after being released.
But assistant boss Tristan Lewis has told the Gazette that is not the case and that United’s second leading scorer trained with the club this week.
Anderson (pictured) was not included in the squad for Saturday’s defeat at Dover because of injury but Lewis believes fans will see he him in action again.
Lewis said: “There’s a bit of a miscommunication with that. He hasn’t been released, Jerome’s still with us. He was here today and was training all week. Our priority is to get him back from his injury because we want him back in the team.
“I think there was an issue with his injury and the amount of training he was able to do due to his work commitments, but I think there was a bit of a miscommunication to the Hayes and Yeading media guys.
“He’s definitely not been released and he’s still a Hayes and Yeading player, 100 per cent. We look forward to getting him fit again because we need his performances on the pitch and for him to start playing again.”
Anderson has plundered eight goals this season, three fewer than United’s top marksman, Kudus Oyenuga.
Hayes and Yeading boss Nas Bashir has expanded the squad by bringing in Barnet youngsters Jamal Lowe and George McCluskey.
