Brown stars in Middlesex thriller

UXBRIDGE’S Gavin Brown was called up to the Middlesex FA Senior Men's side as they drew 3-3 in their first Southern Counties Championship match against London FA.

The Reds right-back had an excellent game at heart of the Middlesex defence and his pinpoint pass directly led to the goal that saw the home team take a 2-1 lead into half-time.

However, the away team fought back in the second half and scored an equaliser in the second minute of added time to take away a share of the points.

Middlesex looked to take control of the game early on and Ola Kukoyi caused problems for London's defense with his pace and guile.

With only 12 minutes gone Kukoyi provided the perfect pass for Dave Lawrence who coolly slotted the ball home having ridden a couple of tackles.

The chances continued to come and after Daniel Vincent narrowly missed, Kukoyi grabbed a goal to go with his assist after he gathered the ball well from a magnificent Brown pass and fired Middlesex into an early 2-0 lead.

It was the wake-up call London needed and their assault on the Middlesex goal began. Jason Pinnock's fierce drive was brilliantly tipped over by keeper Keiron Jimmy, who then pulled off another two saves as the away team failed to find the net.

Middlesex lost danger man Kukoyi on the half hour mark to a hamstring injury and although substitute Josh Otudeko had a golden chance to add to the home side’s advantage, his shot was easily saved.

As the away team continued to push forward Claudio De Almeida released striker Jason Pinnock and, unable to deal with his pace, the defence tripped as he was advancing on goal.

Pinnock picked up the ball and stroked home the penalty with ease.

Middlesex remained on the back foot in the second-half and with only four minutes gone Pinnock scored his second of the match with a low drive to Jimmy's left.

The match was becoming more of a feisty affair and following a scuffle the referee cautioned players from each of the teams.

The home team tried to find their footing once again and were denied what would have been a spectacular goal, when Michael Murray's 25-yard free kick was pushed over by Stewart Back.

However, he was not to denied and with ten minutes to go Murray brilliantly chipped over the sprawling Back from a Domonic Rhone pass.

But Middlesex's jubilation was short lived as a Marco Marchino shot from an acute angle hit a defender and cannoned into the back of the net.

Middlesex's next match is against Army FA on Wednesday October 31.
