SPENCER Bellotti senses he is back on the goal trail at Northwood after an injury hampered start to the season.
The Woods’ striker (pictured) was the width of a post away from scoring his fifth goal in a week in his side’s defeat to Borehamwood in the FA Cup on Saturday – a glut given he only had one in the campaign to that point and has only just returned to the starting XI following a spell on the bench.
He claims it is all a legacy of a bad knock in pre-season, but he is now ready to start banging them in again starting with basement boys Woodford on Saturday.
He said: “It has been a bit of a goal drought. I got injured pre-season where I tore the ligaments in my ankle which slowed me down a bit – not a lot.
“But fitness is back now and the ankle is fine so it is all about keeping the shirt, finding the back of the net again and getting us up the league a bit.
The 22-year-old arrived at Northwood in February after notching 30 plus goals for Oxhey Jets in the Spartan South Midlands League and finished the last campaign strongly.
He says he now more comfortable with the step up and has not ruled out making more progress up the pyramid in the future.
He added: “It is a lot faster and a lot more physical, but we like to play football in this side so I enjoy it more.
“It is good to know you are able to play a step higher. I just want to get as high as I can, playing the best football I can and help the team out on the way.”
