Royston Town 1-3 Uxbridge
A LATE Danny Julienne strike eased Uxbridge through to the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy in last night's replay at Royston Town.
Tony Choules' men were cruising to a 2-0 victory going into the final few minutes, but looked like they would have a nerve-jangling end to the tie when Rosyton pulled one back.
However, within a minute, Uxbridge had gone straight up the other end, and when Chris Moore charged down a clearance the ball fell kindly for Julienne to pick his spot and send the Reds through.
Ross Collins nearly drew first blood for the hosts as he fired wide from 30 yards out, but Uxbridge soon found their feet and Matty Woods fluffed his lines following a good run by Julienne, while it took a block from Joe De La Salle to deny Nicke Kabambe.
And they were soon in front when Moore took advantage of some sloppy home defending to send in a goal-bound shot which took a deflection off a Royston leg to help it on its way.
Woods then slotted wide after cutting in from the left before playing a one-two with Sean Lucien, whose shot was saved, while Collins fired over from the edge of the Uxbridge area when he had two men waiting for a ball into the box.
It was 2-0 to Uxbridge soon after, Kabembe heading home a Wayne Carter cross at the far post, but it took a great tackle by Rob Fitzgerald to deny Ryan Ingrey at the other end, before Luke Robins screwed wide for the hosts.
A combination of Carter and Julienne then stopped Ingrey after he cut in from the right, before Ryan Lockett first headed wide, and was then denied by Reds keeper Matt Elston-Bull.
Uxbridge survived a few scares at the start of the second half, while Kabamba and Andrew Capewell went close before Moore had an effort well saved after Woods laid the ball off.
Fitzgerald should have made it 3-0 but directed a point-blank header from Carter's corner down and over, while Kabamba went even closer minutes later but saw his shot come back off the bar after Lee Wilson failed to clear.
Uxbridge then had a couple of close escapes when Stuart Farrell cleared off then line before Elston-Bull made a point-blank save from the rebound, but they finally caved when Robins headed in a corner at the far post.
But just as Royston prepared for an all-out assault and Uxbridge braced themselves for a bombardment, that man Julienne struck to book a place in the next round against Canvey Island.
