HAYES & Yeading's young centre-back Charlie Wassmer says the next month could be make or break for his club's survival hopes.
The 19-year-old Hayes & Yeading youth product is determined to do his bit after establishing himself as a regular this season.
Hayes & Yeading entertain fellow strugglers Tamworth on Saturday and with Altrincham and Forest Green also on their fixture list in the next month, Garry Haylock's men face a big test of their credentials to stay up.
“We have big games coming up against the teams around us and we have to concentrate on them,” Wassmer said. “We have to take as many points off them as we can.
“We have matched all the title contenders, apart from when we got beat 3-0 at home to Crawley. We have played good football against them all and held our own, but we need to start picking up points now. We are playing well enough, but we are not getting the rub of the green.”
Wassmer produced a commanding performance at the back in his side's gallant 1-0 defeat to Luton last night and has started several games this season.
But he is far from satisfied with what he has achieved in the current campaign.
“I think I could have played more this season, but that is part of the learning process for me,” he added. “I have to keep training hard and get as many games as I can under my belt. A lot has changed for me as I have just come out of college last year and straight into full-time football. The club has done well in turning full-time and hopefully we can start winning soon.”
