Funeral of 100th tragic serviceman

Scores of people have paid tribute to the 100th British serviceman killed in Afghanistan this year.

Members of the public lined the streets for the funeral service of Lance Corporal Adam Drane, 23, of 1st Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

L/Cpl Drane was buried with full military honours at a private ceremony following the service at St Mary's Church.

He was shot in Helmand province on December 7.

At the time of L/Cpl Drane's death, his parents Desmond and Jackie Drane said: "No words can adequately describe what our loss means to us."

They added that they wanted to honour his chosen profession "which taught him the true meaning of courage and self-sacrifice".

Friends described him as a kind and loving man who never stopped talking about his fiancee.
