A PLEA for the public to help protect their vulnerable and elderly neighbours has gone out after three men posing as police officers broke into a pensioner's home.
The OAP confronted three intruders he found in his house in Langham Place on Wednesday last week. He challenged them and they said they were police officers, but were not able to produce any identification.
When the man started ringing the police, the trio grabbed £50 in cash and fled.
This week investigating officer PC Gemma Frost said: "I would encourage residents to keep a watchful eye out for uninvited callers and ring police if they see anyone acting suspiciously. It is important the public remains vigilant, especially if they have elderly or vulnerable neighbours."
The three crooks broke into the house as the occupant was watching television at about 7pm and police are linking the burglary to three others on the same day, one in Staines and two in Camberley.
