AN ELDERLY man is in critical condition following a road traffic collision in Yeading yesterday (Wednesday).
The man, believed to be around 70-years-old, suffered head and leg injuries in the collision, which happened at around 2pm in Yeading Lane, near the junction with Willow Tree Lane, Hayes.
He was taken by helicopter as a priority to Royal London Hospital, in east London, and remains in a critical condition.
Witness Sahid Jahol, who lives in nearby Cornelia Drive, said: "We heard the collision and stood outside our balcony to see what was going on, only to discover a man lying on the floor after he had been hit.
"We also saw the air ambulance came into land but we did not see events thereafter.
"This man has been in our minds since the accident occurred. We pray that he recovers soon."
A 23-year-old man driving a silver Ford Ranger Thunderer pick-up stopped at the scene, and was arrested on suspicion of driving not in accordance with a licence and careless and inconsiderate driving.
He was taken to a west London police station and later bailed to return on a date in early July.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and information about the accident.
The road was closed in both directions, and police remained on the scene for hours afterwards.
