A YOUNG boy had to be rescued by fire crews after sledding onto a frozen lake.
The boy was enjoying the snow off Roundwood Avenue, within the Stockley Park business park in Uxbridge, just before 12pm on Sunday last week when he slid through barriers and onto the icy lake.
It took 25 firefighters with specialist lines and ropes to pull the stranded child to safety.
He was checked over by paramedics at the scene, but he did not need hospital treatment.
Over the weekend, which saw heavy snowfall across the capital, the London Fire Brigade were called to two other incidents involving people who had fallen through frozen lakes after chasing their dogs, and have warned people to stay off the ice.
A dog was reported to have dropped into a frozen lake off Horton Road, West Drayton, on Monday morning, but when fire crews arrived at the scene, the pet had managed to swim to shore.
