WITNESSES are sought to a serious car crash in Uxbridge yesterday that left one motorist in a critical condition.
Two cars travelling in opposite directions - a black Audi TT and a blue Honda Civic - collided in Harvil Road at just after 6.30pm and firefighters had to cut the lone occupant of the Audi, a 38-year-old woman, out of the car.
She was taken by paramedics to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, west London, with serious head and leg injuries and she remains in a "critical" condition.
The occupants of the Honda fled the vehicle and ran off. Police believe there were at least two of them but have no descriptions at present.
Officers from the Road Death Investigation Unit are investigating and Detective Sergeant Steve Pidgeon said: "We're asking for any witnesses to the collision to come forward, and we're also appealing for the occupants of the Honda to come forward.
"It's a possibility they were also injured in the collision and we're concerned for their welfare.
"We're following a number of lines of enquiry so it's only a matter of time until we catch up with them."
