Four flight attendants were arrested for attempting to smuggle about 20,000 contraband cigarettes into the UK.
The four – three women and a man who worked for Royal Brunei Airlines – were detained on December 13, after packages of cigarettes were found concealed in their luggage during routine checks. All four were later given cautions by HM Revenue and Customs investigators and refused entry to the UK. They were removed from the country on a flight back to Brunei the next day.
In total £7,000 duty should have been paid on the tobacco.
