A TEENAGER realised his dream of becoming a sports journalist as he spent the day behind the scenes with his favourite football club’s media team.
Schoolboy Declan O’Reilly, from Ruislip, won the chance to spend the day as an Arsenal journalist on Saturday last week.
The 13-year-old Gunners fan entered into Arsenal’s Young Reporter competition as part of the club’s young supporter group, the Junior Gunners.
The youngster enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at Arsenal’s media operation and spent the day with Arsenal.com editor Richard Clarke.
Declan, as an official member of the Arsenal.com team, sat in the press box to watch his team take on Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal lost the match, but winner Declan still had a great time on a behind the scenes tour of the media area at Emirates Stadium, including the BBC and Sky Sports interview booths.
He even headed to the press conference room after the final whistle to get Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger’s take on the match, before hurrying back to the press area to file his own report for the Junior Gunners website.
