TWO BROTHERS who tried to smuggle £300,000 worth of cocaine through Heathrow Airport have been jailed for a total of nine years.
Roberto and Jesus-Maria Moreno-Ramirez, both from Spain, were arrested at Terminal 1 on September 19, after flying in from the Dominican Republic, via Frankfurt.
Their bags were unusually heavy when they were checked at the gates, and an X-ray revealed that they both had false bottoms.
Three kilos of cocaine, worth up to £300,000 on the streets, was found in hidden compartments.
The brothers, aged 44 and 40, both pleaded guilty to importing a class A drug and were sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison each at Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday last week.
