A MAN has died in a fire at a bungalow in West Drayton Road, Hillingdon
London Fire Brigade said it was called to the house last night (Thursday) just after 6.30pm.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued an elderly man from a bedroom but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has been named locally but police have yet to confirm that next of kin have been informed.
One neighbour who did not wish to be named said two passing men on a moped noticed smoke coming out of the bungalow and alerted people in the next door house.
She said: "I believe the neighbours called the fire brigade and kicked down his door but couldn't get in because of the smoke.
"The man kept himself to himself and lived in the house on his own"
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.45pm to reports of a fire in West Drayton Road, Hillingdon.
"We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews, a Community First responder, a hazardous area response team, and a duty officer.
"Staff treated a 75-year-old man who was in cardiac arrest. Extensive efforts were made to rescusitate him, but sadly he died at the scene."
