THE musician son of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney performed an exclusive acoustic set at the factory where his dad’s music was pressed and shipped out to the masses.
James McCartney sang two songs – new single, Angels, and My Friend – as well as a cover or The Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter, at The Old Vinyl Factory (TOVF) on Friday last week.
It was 50 years ago, in October 1962, when the Beatles first hit the charts with their single, Love Me Do, produced at EMI’s factory buldings in Blyth Road, Hayes.
The gig was part of TOVF sessions, a unique stage, steeped in history, for up-and-coming artists.
Curator Johnny Dee said: “Given James’s family history it’s incredibly exciting to have him performing – it brings the story full circle.”
