FIREFIGHTERS are battling a blaze at a tyre yard near Heathrow, with thick clouds of smoke visible in the sky across West London.
The fire in Bath Road, Hounslow, started just before 4pm today (Tuesday), and as of 5pm, forty firefighters and eight fire engines were on scene trying to put out the flames.
Plumes of smoke are bellowing into the evening sky and can be seen for miles around, across West London, Surrey, and beyond.
The picture was sent in by reader Christina Gajny, from Ealing.
A London Fire Brigade Spokesperson said that the stacked tyres cover 2,400 square metres. People who live in the vicinity are being advised to shut their doors and windows.
Heathrow Airport has tweeted that flights and services have not been affected.
