AN ELDERLY woman has died in a collision on the A40 near Swakeleys Roundabout.
Thames Valley Police said the incident happened at around 4.40am on the carriageway travelling away from London, between the Denham and Swakeleys roundabouts.
A red Peugeot 205 was in collision and a green Volkswagen Golf. The driver of the Peugeot, an elderly woman from the Surrey area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Golf, a man in his mid-30s, has been taken to Hillingdon Hospital in Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
It is believed that the Peugeot was travelling the wrong way along the carriageway at the time of the collision.
The carriageway has now reopened.
