Defence secretary visits RAF Northolt on eve of Olympic Games

Defence Secretary Philip Hammond dropped in to visit service personnel at RAF Northolt who are providing the air security for the Olympic Games.

During a short visit tothe base on Monday, the Secretary of State was briefed by the Station Commander,Group Captain Tim OBrien, on the overall support being provided byRAF Northolt to the games.

He also met Typhoon fast jet crews who are providing a quick reaction alert, and Royal Navy crews of the Sea King airborne surveillance and control aircraft, pictured, which are providing additional radar cover over London for the games .
