THE cream of the borough’s volunteers are among a host of people named in the Queen’s birthday honours list.
Anna Kennedy, who co-founded Hillingdon Manor School and set up autism website annakennedyonline has received an OBE for services to special needs education and autism.
Geoffrey Young, a teacher and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme leader at Hewen’s College, Hewen’s Road, Hayes, has received a British Empire Medal (BEM) for his services to young peeople.
Richard Plume, an executive committee member with 1st Northwood Scouts and a fundraiser for Northwood Live at Home Scheme, has also recieved the BEM.
Mr Plume, who was nominated by his wife Ros, said he was "amazed and taken aback" when he learned he had received the honour.
The worthy trio have all known about their honours for several weeks but were sworn to secrecy. They will collect them at a future date.
