James Tanner Chimes 2
CELEBRITY chef James Tanner was put through his paces at the weekend when he arrived at the Chimes Shopping centre.
Famed for his numerous television appearances, James is known for being able to bring out the chef from within even the most reluctant cook.
He said: Jubilee weekend means most of us are cooking for friends, families and neighbours.
"For those who came down to the Taste event, I made sure they all left with at least one recipe under their belts for the bank holiday."
He was joined on stage on Saturday by catering students from Uxbridge College.
One of them, Gino Ferriggi, 20, pictured left, said: "I'm excited about the experience of cooking with a top chef."
Shoppers who came down to the event also saw the tables turned on James when he was presented with a mystery bag of ingredients to cook with.
Donna Watson, marketing manager at the Chimes, in Uxbridge High Street, said: Were delighted James joined us, he is such a firm family favourite."
On Sunday, the Chimes team was joined by Tarrant Ablett. Shoppers attending the event were serenaded by a selection of local bands, with entertainment being provided by comedy waiters on the Saturday and chef mannequins on Sunday.
Local foodies were also able to enjoy free food and drink offers from participating retailers, including Uxbridge High Street's Zizzi, Pizza Express, Nandos and Slug and Lettuce, plus BHS and Humous bar from inside The Chimes, as well as entertainment for younger customers such as face painters, a caricaturist and a jazz band.
