MANY schools across the borough have been forced to partially close today due to a teachers strike.
Members of the University and College Union and National Union of Teachers at schools, colleges and universities across London are staging a 24 hour walkout in protest against changes to their pensions.
The action means several schools in Hillingdon have been forced to reduce their timetables. Many secondary schools have been able to stay open for year 11 or sixth form students but parents of younger children have been forced to make alternative arrangements.
A lot of primary schools have been kept open but Grange Park Junior, in Hayes, is closed. Hillingdon's Meadow High School, which caters for children with learning difficulties, is also shut.
A small number of staff also went on strike at Uxbridge College but Principle Laraine Smith said it was operating normally.
Brunel University also said it was unaffected.
