TV presenter Clare Balding was a special guest at Queensmead School's annual awards night on Tuesday September 27.
TV SPORTS presenter Clare Balding was impressed with the achievements of pupils at a school's annual awards night.
The BBC Sport familar face visited Queensmead School on Tuesday (September 27) and told the audience that her career highlight was meeting David Beckham.
But the glamour of her job did not stop Ms Balding expressing her shock at the achievements of pupils at the South Ruislip school.
She was most impressed after learning of Joshua Phillips' 10 A* GCSE grades (pictured). Assistant headteacher Vanessa Hardwick said: "I wanted her to come as she is a positive role model, so I emailed her website and luckily she said yes.
"We changed the date three times to accommodate her busy schedule - but it was worth changing it. It was a fantastic evening and she was a superb guest."
The annual awards ceremony at Queensmead celebrates learning and achievement for the academic year, recognising academic excellence, outstanding service to the school, 100 per cent attendance records and sporting achievements.
Clare Balding tweeted afterwards: "Very impressed by Queensmead School. Met some very bright pupils at prize-giving tonight. Two of them had 100 per cent attendance record over five years."
