REGARDING the article on page three of the Uxbridge Gazette of June 29 about house numbers (Please fix house number muddle), I just wanted to say that my road is a cul-de-sac of 30-odd houses.
The numbers start on the right-hand side of the road as you come in, at number one, and follow numerically (no number 13, owing to superstition, I believe).
A few years ago, two houses were built at the start of this road, before number one.
They were built in gardens of houses not in this road and nothing to do with number one, but they are numbered 1B, 1A and then 1.
So the council saying suffix 'A' must fall after the original road number, rising numerically, has not happened here.
To comply with this, 1 and 1B should change numbers. All very petty.
