KIND-HEARTED staff from a theatre in Hayes will be putting their best foot forward raise cash for a children's charity.
A team of nine people from the Beck Theatre, in Grange Road, are taking on the Bupa London 10k in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital's (GOSH) Theatres for Theatres campaign.
The appeal aims to raise £4million to fund two new state-of-the-art operating theatres, to be used by the hospital's neuro-sciences team.
The new theatres will be used to treat children with complex and often life-threatening neurological and craniofacial conditions.
They will allow GOSH to give up to 20 per cent more children the specialist treatment they so desperately need in the next 10 years.
Marketing assistant at the Beck, Hollie King, told the Gazette: "We are one of a number of theatres raising money for GOSH after our parent company, HQ Theatres, decided to support the Theatres for Theatres campaign.
"I had a tour around the hospital last October and saw a couple of the operating theatres and wards.
"It is such a lovely place, there is a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are brilliant, so dedicated to their jobs.
"We are really happy to be raising money for them and help to make a difference."
The Bupa 10k will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30, with the course making up part of the London 2012 Olympic marathon route, snaking around the capital's famous landmarks including Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, St Paul's Cathedral and Nelson's Column.
The Beck team - Danny Bailey, Chris Edwards, Natalie Gassner, Emily Gill, Catherine Goss, Jon Horrill, Hollie King, Simon Maples and Justin Roberts – will be competing alongside the likes of marathon record-holder Paula Radcliffe.
Hollie added: "We have been training hard since January and we are all excited about taking part. We have all been spurring each other on but it is also getting quite competitive, as we all want to get the best finishing time!
"It should be a great day with a fantastic atmosphere, as GOSH will have a team of cheerleaders supporting everyone."
The Beck has already raised more than £6,000 through bucket collections and auctions. The team hopes to raise a further £3,500 through completing the run, and have already collected £1,500.
