Jamie Lee Norman was jailed for 30 months for burglary
A BURGLAR who smashed a patio window before stealing money and jewellery has been jailed for 30 months.
Jamie Lee Norman, 19, from Camden, committed the burglary in Harlington Road, Hillingdon, on June 1 this year. Two accomplices who helped him are still on the loose.
The 'opportunist' burglary happened at 12.30pm, with two suspects acting as lookouts, while another broke in at the back. While in the property, the gang grabbed cash, watches, necklaces and other valuables before driving off.
The criminals drove off in a black Ford KA which had been reported stolen from the Barnet area of London.
Police were able to track the stolen vehicle, which was dumped at the junction of Park Road East, and Uxbridge Road, in Hillingdon.
Jamie Norman was arrested within 15 minutes of committing the crime, and was found wearing a watch stolen in the raid. The other two suspects fled and have not been caught. Norman was sentenced this month at Harrow Crown Court to 30 months in prison.
Investigating Officer PC Mark Lavelle said: "This was an opportunist crime for which Mr Norman has received a custodial sentence. Residential burglary is a distressing crime and invades people’s privacy. We take such crime very seriously and work hard to apprehend those who commit such offences.
"I urge our residents also take prevention measures with their properties such as closing all windows and doors before leaving their home and have a burglar alarm fitted."
Anyone who has information regarding the two other people involved in this burglary should contact Hillingdon Police on 0208 2461568 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
