dunedin way crash
POLICE are searching for a thief who stole a car before recklessly crashing into another vehicle and making a getaway on foot.
Officers were called to an address in Gibson Road, Ickenham, at around 3.45pm on Monday (23), to reports of a burglary.
The suspect is said to have gained entry through a window at the back of the house, before stealing the keys to a black Alfa Romeo parked in the drive. Nothing else was taken.
The driver, who could have had accomplices riding with him, then headed towards the A40.
Just over an hour later at around 5pm, the car was involved in a crash with a green Toyota Corolla, over five miles away in Dunedin Way, Hayes.
After careering into the Toyota, the stolen car backed up and sped away from the scene. It was then dumped a short distance away, in Owen Road, and the culprit/s escaped on foot.
Two people in the Toyota were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
No arrests have been made, and police want to trace those responsible.
Acting DS Stuart Wood said: "We are looking for witnesses who may have seen what happened when the car was stolen and also when it was involved in the road traffic collision."
