Ickenham's Pooja into semi-finals of Miss England

AN ASPIRING beauty pageant model is one step closer to her dream after being voted through to the semi-finals of Miss England.

Pooja Sharma, 23, from Ickenham, was awarded the title of Miss London Popularity 2010 on Tuesday (25/5) at the Miss London finals.

Miss Sharma, a fashion and design student, said: "'I would like to thank my family and friends for all their enormous support and a huge thank you to everyone out there who voted for me.

"It feels extremely special to be at this stage of the competition and I hope to do just as well at the semi finals'."

She is now through to the Miss England semi finals, to be held on June 14 at Champneys in Leicestershire, alongside 34 other contestants.

The girls are to take part in a sportswear round, recyclable clothing round, an evening wear round along with a talent round.

All the girls will now be doing all sorts of charity work for the Variety Club in aid to raise all the money they can for charity.
