CCTV of one of the men police want to speak to
POLICE are appealing for information after a man was attacked by a group of men and women at Northwood tube station.
Officers are looking to identify three men and two women from CCTV images in connection with the incident, which occurred on July 12.
British Transport Police (BTP) Detective Constable Keith McEwen, the investigating officer, said: “The victim, a 27-year-old man from Borehamwood, had fallen asleep whilst travelling with a friend on the Metropolitan line at around 11.30pm.
“Between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Northwood tube stations a man assaulted the victim and an altercation between the three men took place on board the train.
“The victim and his friend got off the train at Northwood, as did the offender and several other men and women. The victim ran up the stairs from the station platform before being assaulted for a second time. The attacker smashed the victim’s mobile phone against a wall and stole a second phone out of his hand.
“A woman then threatened and spat at the victim before the group left the station. This was a vicious and prolonged attack and I would urge anyone who recognises any of the men and women pictured in the CCTV images to contact police.”
Anyone with any information should call the BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting incident number 6 of 13/7/09 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
