I AM absolutely appalled that the owners of the new shop in Ryefield Avenue have been able to open using a loophole ('Unpopular' store pulls in the crowds, Uxbridge and West Drayton Gazette, May 25).
They are showing total disregard for the wishes of local residents.
It has only been open for six days and already there are problems with parking and lorries double parking to deliver. The fact it is right opposite a bus stop makes it even worse when a bus is at the stop.
I am a driving instructor and regularly drive around the estate, of which I am also a resident. In my opinion this betrayal of the residents is going to end up being an accident black spot, as drivers try to force their way through the gaps.
There are many old people and very young people that live locally and their perception of speed is generally very poor when crossing the roads.
If somebody gets killed as a result of these irresponsible owners flouting regulations. encouraging more traffic and double parking, then heaven help them.
All the nonsense printed about pulling in the crowds is a bit of a myth as the crowds were not from the estate but were probably targeted in mail drops with opening offers.
One greedy owner is trying to destroy the lives and livelihood of an number of small local shops. If Nee-lam is forced out of business because of this greed, we will lose the post office, which many residents rely on for pensions and benefit payments.
