ONCE again the Conservative council has shown its contempt for feelings in Hayes by allowing planning permission for building on Minet Drive sports field (Residents disappointed as estate is given green light, Hayes and Harlington Gazette, April 6).
To their disgrace, they are completely ignoring a covenant on the site that I believe says it has to be kept for local people's use.
They are using bullyboy tactics to win by stating that if people want to play the covenant card then they will have to go to court to fight it, and this makes it impossible to do because of the costs.
The UK government should step in and make them uphold it. The council is making a mockery of a ruling that has been around for centuries.
A covenant should be upheld in law, and it should be the council that has to fight it.
I, like many people, have had enough of Uxbridge turning Hayes into a one huge building site.
