AFTER reading Cathy Brushfield's letter in the Gazette, regarding the playful, beautiful foxes in the school field at the rear of her house, I realised I had a feeling of dread creeping over me (Foxes pose less danger than people, Letters, June 16).
The schools are built on the lines of cages, where it's hard for humans to enter illegally, but foxes gain entry at will.
She, as do many town dwelling people, feeds these urban foxes. Just 25 miles off our south coast is a country where rabies is endemic.
Many millions of euros are spent each year trying to eradicate foxes for obvious reasons.
Will she still feed a rabid fox? I hope not, and knowing they are living in a school field, I'm starting to twitch. She should be praying that rabies stays just 25 miles away.
