COUNCIL leader Ray Puddifoot used his Gazette column - and pompously worded letters during the election - to accuse the Liberal Democrats and others of lying to the electors (Council leaders' columns, May 26).
But he won't say what he doesn't agree with - because he can't.
He can't refute the fact that his council 'invested' more than £15million in Icelandic banks, and there's no sign of getting it back.
He can't refute the fact that there are massive council debts, including new loans of more than £70m in recent years.
He can't refute the fact that there is a pensions time bomb that was more than £50m in 2007. What's the debt hanging over our heads now, Ray - will you tell us please?
Your council, Mr Puddifoot, claimed that 'independent auditors have confirmed that Hillingdon is the most efficient council in London'.
The council's independent auditor, Deloitte, says that's not true.
Who's being economical with the truth now then?
