THE postponement of a jazz boat trip has proved to be music to the ears of environmentalists keen to clean up rubbish from the canal banks.
Jazz on the Boat was due to take place aboard the West London Floating Classroom canal barge on Saturday, July 21 as one of the events in the Yiewsley and West Drayton summer festival, but has had to be postponed until later in the summer.
Now Thames 21 community development officer, Billy Coburn, and Floating Classroom skipper, Mike Moritz, are instead planning two clean-up events on the canal on Friday and Saturday.
The barge will leave from beside the Tesco car park in Yiewsley at 11am each day, finishing at Station Road Bridge, Hayes, at around 3pm. The barge will then return to Yiewsley.
Children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. Toilets and food will be available aboard.
All equipment will be provided, but volunteers are asked to bring a change of clothes and sturdy footwear.
