METRO Piazza was recommended to me last year and I had always planned to go, but just never really got around to it. So, when one of my friends also said it was her favourite restaurant in the area I knew I had to test it out for myself.

It hasn't been open for long, but it has already built up quite a good reputation in the local community. I got there just after 7pm on the night Champions League Final and was surprised to see there were already four tables of customers, so that was a very good sign.

The red chairs, wooden floor, and general style of the restaurant gave it a really nice feel and the ambiance made me feel very relaxed.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the service was excellent.

The selection on the menu was just about right – I don't really like it when they give too much choice because you end up spending ages deciding what to have.

My partner and I decided to start with a shared starter of a selection of ham and salami with cheese. It wasn't as nice as I thought it would be and my partner wasn't that impressed either, but it certainly wasn't horrible.

For the main course I chose fettuccine carbonara (my favourite food of all time) and my partner chose pollo parmigiana from the list of specials.

I was served up a huge amount of pasta, which I had absolutely no chance of finishing. It was very nice, although probably a little bit too creamy, which made it quite overpowering.

My partner also really enjoyed his meal and said it was quite filling.

We never get a pudding when we go out for meals because we are always too full, but this time we decided we had to try some of their Italian ice cream, and I'm glad we did because it was delicious.

The restaurant continued to fill up as we ate and the people who were in there when we arrived were still there when we left.

It took us just over an hour to finish our meal – a good sign of great service and when the bill came it got even better. For some reason I hadn't really notice the special offer posters on the front of the restaurant when we arrived. The total came to £43.70, but with the 25% off it was just £32.95. Bargain!

That's probably one of the reasons why it was so busy, however, I have the feeling it is probably always fairly busy.

The special offer is for dinner only Monday to Friday, but it didn't have an end date on the poster.

Overall, I really liked the restaurant. The food, cost, service, atmosphere, and décor were all spot on. I would definitely recommend it, especially if the special offer is still on.
